POPCORE: Community Orchard Resilience Education

At POP, we don’t just steward land. We steward knowledge.

Every orchard we work with offers valuable lessons that we synthesize and circulate through partnerships, workshops, and resources. These serve almost every community orchard in Philadelphia as well as our city agencies, state institutions, and urban agriculture groups.

2025 has been especially exciting for our educational work.

Over the past 18 years, we’ve developed a wealth of resources. But we knew it was time to bring everything together in a more accessible way. This year, our team took a big stride and consolidated over 40 individual resources into 4 comprehensive guides, aligned with the 4 pillars of the POPCORE curriculum.

We gathered and improved resources, filled in the gaps by creating new ones, added custom illustrations, and designed an easy-to-read format. We also held a series of POPCORE workshops for our community, bringing together 21 partners and 19 Lead Volunteers representing 29 different orchards. Look out for more soon, including POPCORE workshops for the public!

Join us in envisioning a Philadelphia where everyone has access to fresh food, clean air, and peaceful green spaces. To get there, we need knowledge that is high quality, locally rooted, and developed together for the collective good.

This work is critical for the future we need. And it is only possible with your support.

Please consider making a year-end gift to POP today. We are a small organization, and every dollar counts. Your contribution powers our educational programs and strengthens the networks that support these vital spaces.

Thank you for believing in the power of community, knowledge, and growth.

By investing in POP, you support 71 orchards in 24 zip codes in Philly.

Donate online to help us reach our year-end giving goal of $30,000. We also urge you to consider becoming a monthly sustaining donor. The consistent year-round support helps us focus on the real work and allows you to make a bigger impact.
