Join us for the second session of our 2020 POPCORE urban orchardist training course. This workshop will focus on holistic and organic approaches to management of orchard pests & diseases. Class preceded by optional hands-on demonstration of holistic sprays (3:30pm to 5pm) and community potluck (5pm-6pm).

Join us for the second session of our POPCORE urban orchardist training course:

3:30 - 5pm: Demonstration of Compost Tea & Holistic Sprays (optional, weather permitting)

5 - 6pm: Potluck & Community Discussion (optional)

6 - 8pm: Workshop

  • Intro to holistic orchard management

  • Most common insect pests

  • Most common fungi and diseases

  • Most common animal pests

  • Organic/holistic spray options

  • Intro to beneficial insects and how to attract them

POPCORE combines many elements of orchard stewardship, ecosystem design, and food uses that POP has learned over the past twelve years.  This four part series is intended to grow the knowledge, skillset, and self-reliance of our community orchard partners and volunteers, resulting in happier, healthier, and more productive community orchards.  

Those completing all four classes over any two year period will receive POPCORE Urban Orchardist Certification!

Space is limited, pre-registration required!  

Certified child care is available, but advance notification by the Sunday preceding the workshop is required. Children must be potty-trained. Please confirm your need for child care via info@phillyorchards.org by Sunday, March 8th!
