School Orchard Program
Imagine being a child and having a science class outside in a beautiful orchard that you helped plant and then picking a ripe piece of fruit off a tree for the very first time.
With your support, POP’s School Orchard Program will continue to expand opportunities for Philly youth to learn about soil science, botany, ecology, food systems, and nutrition. The program will serve approximately 500 students directly, and thousands indirectly, with pilot programs beginning at Henry C. Lea Elementary School, Overbrook School for the Blind, Tilden Middle School and Bartram High School.
You can help extend the reach of this program!
Children at our school orchards get as excited about the bees and worms as they do about the fruit. Involving youth in cultivating fresh, healthy food in their own schools and neighborhoods is a powerful way to build better eating habits and support the development of healthy minds, attitudes, and behaviors that can result in improved academic performance and earth stewardship.
Invest in Philadelphia’s future by supporting our School Orchard Program. Your gift will continue to educate, bring smiles, build community, and make healthful fruit available for children at city schools!
