Join us for a POPCORE workshop focusing on holistic and organic approaches to management of orchard pests & diseases, including hands-on scouting and demonstration of techniques.

Join us for the second session of our POPCORE urban orchardist training course at one of POP's most established and diverse orchard sites, at the FNC Learning Farm at 8th & Poplar.  

10am - 1pm:  POPCORE 2 WORKSHOP

  • Intro to holistic orchard management

  • Most common insect pests

  • Most common fungi and diseases

  • Most common animal pests

  • Organic/holistic spray options

  • Intro to beneficial insects and how to attract them

  • HANDS-ON Scouting and Identification of pests & diseases

  • HANDS-ON Application of management techniques including organic sprays

The POPCORE training course combines many elements of orchard stewardship, ecosystem design, and food uses that POP has learned over the past ten years.  This four part series is intended to grow the knowledge, skillset, and self-reliance of our community orchard partners and volunteers, resulting in happier, healthier, and more productive community orchards.  

Each workshop can be taken individually. Those completing all four classes over any two year period will receive POPCORE Urban Orchardist Certification!
