Workshop Description: Learn the art of grafting and bring home 2 of your own grafted fruit trees!  This workshop will focus on benchgrafting of apples and European and Asian pears, focusing on fire blight resistant varieties. POP will provide all materials and tools needed.

This workshop is suitable for beginning/prospective farmers and orchardists, as well as those with more experience.

Teacher Bio: Greg Rothman helps run Cummins Nursery in Ithaca, NY. Amongst other roles he’s been grafting since 2009, propagating 10,000 plus fruit trees each year and teaching others to graft.

Location: This workshop will take place at the Education Center located within the Farm at Awbury Arboretum, 6336 Ardleigh Street.

Accessibility Notes:
  • Use entrance on Ardleigh St.
  • Upon entering there is a paved walking path leading towards the education center, accessible for wheelchair users
  • Street parking available on Ardleigh St and Washing Lane.
  • SEPTA: 51 bus (toward Olney Transit Center), 81 bus (toward Ogontz-Cheltenham), 18 Bus (toward Cedarbrook Plaza)
  • Water and light snacks will be available
  • Bathroom is located inside the education center
  • Please let us know below, if there is any specific assistance needed to make attending more accessible and POP will do our very best to meet your needs
  • Masks, rapid tests, hand sanitizer, washing stations, and gloves will be provided
  • We highly encourage you to mask OR take a rapid test before attending the workshop (feel free to test with the rapid tests provided once entering)
