Annual Orchard Celebration

You are invited to attend POP’s annual Orchard Celebration, a time to savor the season’s harvest – with locally-made or locally-grown treats from Weckerly’s, That Pikliz Jawn, Riverwards Produce, Philly Foodworks, and fruit from community orchards at Mill Creek Farm, One Art Community Center, Sankofa Community Farm, Historic Fairhill, and the Learning Orchard!

We hope you’ll join us for a fun afternoon of orchard exploration and community connection at POP’s Learning Orchard at the Woodlands. Donations are appreciated but not required, and all are welcome to attend.

The afternoon will also include live music by Salina Kuo, a silent art auction, and an award presentation to this year’s Purple Fig and Golden Persimmon awardees. See more details about our honorees here!

There will be one orchard tour, starting at 5:30pm. The awards ceremony will follow that, at approximately 6pm. The event will end between 6:30-7pm, depending on available light , with sunset at 6:37 and dusk shortly after 7.

Thank you to our honorary event co-chairs (current as of Sept 13, 2023):

  • Katherine Gilmore Richardson – Councilmember At-Large, City of Philadelphia
  • Vanesa Karamanian, MD, MPH – Director of Healthier Together Initiative, CHOP
  • Rick Krajewski – State Representative, 188th District
  • Yocasta Lora – Advocacy & Community Engagement Associate State Director, AARP Pennsylvania
  • George Matysik – Executive Director, Share Food Program
