Plant, Learn, Harvest, Celebrate! Join us at an upcoming orchard event.

We invite you to join POP and our community partners in a wide range of events including planting and caring for orchards across the city; tree plantings; workshops and other educational programs about ecological orchard care and related topics; POPHarvest gleaning opportunities; and harvest festivals and other community events! Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome at planting and orchard care events. Please RSVP below in order to receive detailed event directions and updates and so that we know how many volunteers to expect. We also encourage you to join POP’s volunteer email list to receive announcements of new events and opportunities to get involved.

UPDATE 7/10/2020:

To support the safety of POP staff, partners, and the wider community, scheduled programs and most orchard work days remain suspended as we move into summer. POP staff and some Lead Orchard Volunteers are providing hands-on support to partners in need of help, but to limit the number of interactions between individuals of different households, POP is still not able to open orchard care days to our larger volunteer pool.

The PA Department of Agriculture issued updated guidelines for community gardens on April 17, 2020, recognizing the critical role played by these spaces in community food security and resiliency. POP recommends following those requirements, which include hand washing/sanitizing, disinfecting high-contact areas like faucets and gates, and practicing social distancing, should you choose to visit a POP orchard or community garden. The Grounded in Philly website is being updated regularly, so check there for additional information and resources.

New educational video content is now available via POP’s YouTube channel, so visit and subscribe today! We also invite you to visit POP’s Resource page and blog for ecological orchard care tips, plant info sheets, school lesson plans, and more. Please take care!
